Obituary of Nancy Lee Gaines

Nancy Lee Gaines, 88, of Pleasant Valley, passed away in her home on January 29, 2021. She was born on December 20, 1932, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Russell and Margaret Kirkpatrick. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jim, and her three children: Margie Craig, Beckie Tennant and spouse Dick, and Jay Gaines and spouse Joy. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: Tiffany Coleman and spouse Kendall, Holly Talada, Evan and Adam Gaines, and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Campbell, Luke, and Piper. As The Kirkpatrick Sisters, Nancy, Jean, and Mary Edith, were accomplished singers and dancers. The Hollywood Professional School in California inspired Nancy to ultimately become a dance teacher. Nancy graduated from Washington Irving High School and was later employed by the Marion County school system. Her many interests included reading, crocheting, and staying connected with her Facebook friends. Nancy considered her neighbors on Lillie Street to be a part of her extended family. In honor of Nancy's life, donations may be made to local animal care organizations or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Arrangements are being handled by Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554. A private graveside service will be held at a later date for the family.
