Obituary of Richard Dale Valentine, Jr.

Richard Dale “Dicky” Valentine, Jr., 66, of Rivesville, WV, passed away unexpectantly on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his residence. He was born, July 15, 1954 in Fairmont, WV, a son of Helen Louise Cox Valentine and the late Richard Dale Valentine. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Ann Hall Valentine. Dicky was member of the Covenant Church of Fairmont, and was a 1972 graduate of Rivesville High School. He retired in 2020 from Wilson Ford with over 39 years in the service department. Dicky was very active in his church, having served as an usher, a past deacon, a member of the board of trustees, as well as singing in the choir. He loved all sports, but especially enjoyed the WVU Mountaineer football and basketball where he was a season ticket holder for many years. He also followed the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers throughout their seasons. He had been active as supporting booster of the Fairmont Senior marching band during his girls’ high school years. He biggest joy was spending time with his family which included his girls, but also his many nieces and nephews who also meant the world to him. In addition to his wife and mother, Dicky is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn Louise and her husband Cameron Alexander Dye of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rebekah Ann Valentine of Adelphi, MD, his two brothers, Michael Valentine of Sterling, VA, and Doug Valentine of Cannonsburg, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Dicky was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Valentine DeMary. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High Street, Morgantown, WV, 26501. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second and Jasper Streets, Rivesville, WV 26588. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic it is required that masks be worn and social distancing be maintained for all arrangements. Visitation will be held publicly on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 4PM until 7PM. The funeral service will be held privately for family only with Pastor Roy Weese officiating.
