Obituary of Richard Lee Suplita
Richard Lee Suplita, 74, of Bridgeport, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at United Hospital Center. He was born on July 3, 1946 in Marion County, a son of the late Mary Bartic and Andrew Suplita.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a past member of the Oakwood Church of Christ. He served in the Rattlesnake Company of the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was a helicopter gunnery sergeant and helicopter machinist. He was an electrician for Local #425 IBEW and served as their business agent for many years. Richard was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing at Smoke Hole, golfing all over the United States, vacationing at the beach and being in the sun. He was a great storyteller and loved talking to people.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard Lee Suplita II and his wife Mary Katherine of Athens, GA; his daughters, Melissa Sinisi and her husband Michael of Fairmont, and Wendy DeVault and her husband Jarrod of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Abigail Sinisi, Tony Sinisi, Emily DeVault Foose, Jack DeVault, Anna Suplita, Lydia Suplita, and Lola Suplita; his great-grandchild, Ryker Yaussy; his brother, Franklin Suplita of Ohio; and his sister, Diana Sigley of Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gene Suplita and a sister, Mary Lou Adams.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance to Richard’s wishes, his body will be cremated. A private committal service will be held for the family at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council.
