Obituary of Anna Elizabeth Noshagya Davis
Anna Elizabeth Noshagya Davis, 90, of Baxter, passed on Monday, August 2, 2021, near Houston, Texas, where she had lived the past few years.
Anna was born May 31, 1931 in Elizabeth, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, the oldest child of the late Andy and Julia Noshagya. Anna is also preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, John H. Davis, Jr., her sister Tilda Jean Wolfe and husband Gerald. Anna is survived by her brother Andrew Noshagya, Jr. and wife, Jane. Anna is also survived by daughters and sons-in-laws Cheryl and George Randall “Randy” Corbin of Missouri City, TX, and Nancy and Jim Napolillo of Bluffton, SC. Anna was extremely proud of her 5 granddaughters and their spouses, April and Tommy Perez of Spring, TX; Amanda and Jeff Fletcher of Lucas, TX; Tacy and Kendall Foster of Mooresville, NC; Angela and Wesley Simmons of Rosenberg, TX; and Tara and Tim Potts of Mooresville, NC. One of her greatest pleasures was to spend time with and to hear about the growth and antics of her great grandchildren, Mickaila, Elise, Maya, and Mason Perez; Brock, Evan and Holley Fletcher; Adalyn and Liliana Foster; Micah and Josiah Simmons; and Oliver and Lincoln Potts.
Anna was very close with John’s family, John and Gertrude Davis, and treasured the friendship of her sisters-in-laws and their families, Amy and Jim Pearl (both deceased); Patty and Raymond Jones (deceased); and Nancy and Jim Haldeman (deceased) and her brother-in-law, Paul W. Davis (deceased). She had numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Anna graduated from Rivesville High School, class of 1949. She attended Fairmont State College and completed Clerical Studies at the Marion County Technical Center. From 1949 to 1966, Anna dedicated her time and talents to managing Hilltop Market on Baxter Hill which her parents built and owned. Anna has had many wonderful friends over the years and it was the handsome young brother of her high school friends, Patty and Nancy, who had just returned from serving in the Merchant Marines with whom Anna fell in love. She married John Henry Davis, Jr. on July 2, 1950 at the Highlawn United Methodist Church, where she served as Church Treasurer for 40 years and continues to be a member. When Hilltop Market closed, Anna worked for 3 years at the Marion County Court House Tax Office and then for 20 years in the Fairmont Clinic Business Office.
She is also a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and enjoyed the monthly meetings and activities with her friends. Anna has nurtured and supported her family for many years, having taken care of her aging parents while she continued to work. She and John then helped their daughters raise their daughters, not only in Morgantown, but also traveling all over the South and to Singapore doing whatever was asked and more. Anna was an amazing cook and would prepare any favorite dish requested, day or night. Anna was a true friend. She would do anything for a friend and stayed in touch with so many over many years even after moving to Texas. She loved her phone calls from her friends and reached out to them as much as possible.
