Obituary of Estaline May Fleming
Estaline May Fleming, resident of Pleasant Valley and Rock Lake, West Virginia, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021 with family by her side. She was born November 5, 1935 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Lucy Reaser May and Lawrence Pierpont May. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lawson “Hoppy” Fleming.
Surviving Mrs. Fleming are two daughters, Judie Charlton Andrews and husband Bruce Andrews of Morgantown, WV; and Nan “Missie” Murray and her husband Randy Murray of Fairmont, WV. Grandchildren include Brooke Andrews, Reed Andrews, Will Andrews, Hunter Murray and wife Cailey Murray, and Alexandrea Murray Morrow and husband Rich Morrow. She also has one great grandchild, Adelyn Grace Murray.
Mrs. Fleming was a homemaker and very active in her community. She was a member of the Rock Lake Club for her entire life. She was active in the Gamma Chi Chi Alumnae Phi Mu Chapter, the Mountain Heritage Quilters Guild of Marion County, Fairmont’s Red Hat Society, Marion County Senior Citizen’s Center, and the Hand and Foot Sisters card playing group. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in the choir. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Estaline was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State University. She enjoyed following Fairmont State Athletics.
Estaline was an exemplary cook and an excellent seamstress. She excelled at needle crafts including quilting and cross stitch. Her quilts have been exhibited in juried quilt shows.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Central United Methodist Church choir or to the Fairmont State Foundation Scholarship fund in memory of William and Estaline Fleming.
The family will have a private memorial and celebration of her life at a later date. Ford Funeral Home is entrusted with her care, and internment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
