Obituary of Carolyn Lee Humberston

Carolyn Lee Humberston, 90, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Genesis Pierpont Center. She was born in Bridgeport on December 12, 1930, daughter of the late Rayburn and Kathryn Weber Sinsel. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Leroy Vernon Humberston of Fairmont; daughters, Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa and her husband Pastor Brian of Mansfield, OH and Barbara Leatherman and her companion Dave Campbell of Takoma, WA; three grandchildren, Reed Leatherman, Neal Leatherman, and Anastasia Rodgers; and a great-grandchild, Camden Rodgers. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a son, Karl Humberston. Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Washington Irving High School and was a retired claims secretary for Bond Insurance Agency. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was involved with W.E.L.C.A. ladies’ group, choir, Sunday school, and worked with the youth and many areas of ministries within the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Carolyn’s memory to Grace Lutheran Church, 300 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 300 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Matt Holbert officiating.
