Obituary of Thomas Fleming Wilshire
Thomas Fleming Wilshire II, 86, of Fairmont passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Fairmont Medical Center. He was the son of Thomas Fleming Wilshire Sr. and Leonore “Babe” Given Wilshire. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Jean Majic Wilshire.
Tom owned Wilshire Pump and Tank Service. His company worked for many years with the Exxon Oil Co. and was instrumental in building gasoline stations across our state. He was proud graduate of Fairmont Sr. High School and attended both WVU and FSC. He was an avid WVU and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He was a member of the B.T.D. Sporting Club in Grafton, WV and KIBO Men’s Social Club. He was a former president of Moose Lodge No. 9 of Fairmont. He was an active Post 629 Auxiliary member. Most importantly, Pappy loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his son and daughter in law Dr. Thomas Wilshire III and Nicole of Fairmont; 2 daughters and a son in law Jeanne Howell of Morgantown and Rosemary Wilshire-Raschella & Nick Raschella of Fairmont. He is also survived by his sister Leonore Prunty of Michigan; six grandchildren Sydney Majic Wilshire, Dane Wilshire, Julian Wilshire, Camille Morgan, Carolyn Morgan, Holly Howell and one great grandchild Owen Brinegar. He leaves behind a dear friend Gloria Haney of Fairmont.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons in laws Matt Howell & Donnie Morgan, and his brother-in-law Rodger Prunty.
The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home 201 Columbia St. Fairmont, WV 26554 on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 4-8 PM and Monday, November 29 from 10-11 AM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont WV. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfunralhomes.com.
