Obituary of Susan Kaminski Wilson

Susan Kaminski Wilson, 74, of Maple Lake, Bridgeport, WV died December 20, 2021, at the Bridgeport Health Care Center of natural causes. Susan was born in Baltimore, MD, on Sept. 25, 1947. She graduated from Marietta College, Ohio, in 1968 with a B.S. in Chemistry and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Following her 1969 wedding, she moved to Clarksburg, West Virginia and taught 7-9th math at Norwood Junior High School for a few years before moving to Charleston, West Virginia, for two years. She raised her three children in Marshlands, Gaines Twp., Pennsylvania, where she was a substitute teacher in the Galeton Area School District, Girl and Cub Scout leader, and CCD instructor at St. Bibiana’s Catholic parish. She obtained a M.Ed. from Mansfield State University, Pennsylvania in 1989 and taught math at Penn College, Wellsboro campus. In 1995, her family moved to Bridgeport, WV, where she taught math and organizing classes at Fairmont State and Pierpont Community and Technical Colleges. She was a realtor for Chandler Realty, then C. June Williams Realty, and a professional organizer for her self-owned business, Clutterpillar LLC. Susan enjoyed volunteering her time for many area organizations including the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, Maple Lake Club, and Scottish Heritage Society. She was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and was on the Board of Directors for Job Squad, Inc. (Bridgeport, WV). She was an avid mycologist, botanist, and wildflower enthusiast, and took great pleasure in mountain trail hiking. Susan is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Richard S. Wilson (Bridgeport, WV), sisters Joyce (John) Giuliani (Springfield, VA) and Kathleen (Richard) Towner (Hemlock, NY), brother Joseph Allen (Jacqueline) Kaminski (Mint Hill, NC), son Samuel (Cheryl) Wilson (Mars, PA), daughters Caroline (Kyle) Wilson-Hampton (Silverado, CA) and Catherine (Theodore) Nilsson (Churchton, MD), and five grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mae Kaminski (Mendon, NY). A private service will be held Monday, December 27 at the Ford Funeral home in Bridgeport, WV followed by a graveside memorial at the Bridgeport Cemetery, Orchard Memorial garden.
