Obituary of Susan J. Orr

Susan J. Orr died on April 26, 2022. She was born on January26, 1942, the daughter of the late Cletus Harold Jenkins and Pauline Hoferer Jenkins. She was pre-deceased in death by the love of her life, and husband of nearly60 years, John William Orr, Jr.  She had two sisters, Carole Wilburn (Gib) of Bridgeport, WV, and Dodie Libicer (Steve)of Franklin, PA, one sister-in-law, Linda O. Morgan (Gary) of Bridgeport, WV, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two daughters, Katherine L. Hansen(Curt) of Burlington, KY, and Jennifer L. Gray (Barry) of King George, VA, and one son, John David Orr (Kim) of Bridgeport, WV. She was incredibly proud of her two grandchildren, Navy Corpsman, C. Van Hansen of Fort Sam Houston, TX, and Broadway Actor, Amber R. Gray (Gaylen Hamilton) and two greatgrandchildren, Angus B. Hamilton and Wyatt M. Hamilton, of Brooklyn, NY.   Susan graduated from Fairmont Senior High and Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, she was a registered nurse in WV, NY, NJ, IL and PA. She also served as an Emergency Medical Technician, Assistant Director of Nursing (NY) and Director of Nursing (IL).Susan’s career was important and a source of pride, but nothing was more important than her family; she was involved in all of her children’s activities: Cinderella Softball, Midget Football/Cheerleading, Scouts, and was Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. She was an Eastern Star and also an Elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro, PA. Susan was also incredibly creative and enjoyed working in a variety of mediums; whether clay, or beading or flowers, the result was always beautiful. After retirement, John and Susan traveled throughout the country with Masonic and Shrine functions and enjoyed making new friends wherever they went. A family service will be conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont, WV, on June 11, 2022.
