Obituary of Frances Louise Bice Taylor
Frances Louise Bice Taylor, 97, of Myrtle Beach, SC (formerly of Fairmont, WV), went home to be with the Lord and reconnect with her late husband Joe on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She had been living with her daughter, Linda (Sue) Stiltner, in Pottstown, Pa. from 2013 until this past February. Since then, she had been living with her son, Pat Taylor, and his wife, Teresa in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was born April 8th, 1925 in Grafton, a daughter of the late Lawrence & Bessie Myers Bice. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Sue) Stiltner of Myrtle Beach, SC, her son Greg Taylor and his wife Dianna (Dewitt) Taylor of Dillsburg, PA, and her son Pat & his wife Teresa (Carter) Taylor of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Joseph Patrick (J.P.) & Jessica Taylor of Myrtle Beach, SC., who were the pride of her life. She is also survived by her nieces Carolyn (McEldowney) and her husband Don Hutson of Nutter Fort, Judy (McEldowney) and her husband Jim Hileman of Clarksburg, and her nephew Charles McEldowney of Silver Spring, MD. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Taylor in 1986. Frances grew up on a farm in Corbin Branch (near Bridgeport) and was a graduate of the Bridgeport High School Class of 1942. She served as a Princess in the court of the 7th annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival while in high school. After graduating she worked for the Clarksburg Exponent-Telegram newspaper before moving to Fairmont to begin working at the Westinghouse Lamp Plant. After marrying her husband in 1946, she began working as a Switchboard Operator for C & P Telephone of Fairmont until the switch was made to Direct Dialing in 1963. Her final line of work before retiring in 1985 was as a Pharmacy Technician for Mason’s Pharmacy. She was a proud member of The Fairmont Women’s Club, The Fairmont branch of the Business & Professional Women’s Foundation, and The Ladies Auxillary of the Elks Club #293 of Fairmont. She and her husband were frequent participants of the Fairmont Marcoda Club as well. She and Joe were also members of The Rock Lake Club from 1964 until 1985. She loved traveling after her husband passed in 1986 and was a staple of The Elks Club, attending or assisting with just about everything that went on there until she moved to Pennsylvania in 2013. The family would like to say a special thanks for Dr. Jason Harrah and the entire staff of McLeod Health Hospice for their incredible assistance in helping Frances during the final months of her life. Friends of the family will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV on Wednesday, July 20th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday, July 21st, at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Park on East Grafton Road in Fairmont.
