Obituary of Betty Lorraine Francis Boram
Betty Lorraine Francis Boram, 94, of Fairmont, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord and reconnect with her late husband, Bob, on Monday, July 18, 2022. She was with her daughter, Joy, and husband, Randy, at the time of her death.
She was born on January 4, 1928, in Weston, WV, a daughter of the late Denzil and Marie (May ) Francis.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Ruth Boram Stevens (Alan) of Norfolk, Virginia; Joy Frances Boram Summers (Randy) of Lakeland, Florida; and two sons, Robert Boram (Paula) of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Ronald Boram (Mark Fabian) of North Augusta, South Carolina. She is also survived by three brothers Ralph Francis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Charles Francis of Clarksburg, West Virginia and Jerry Francis (Beth Ann) of Jane Lew, West Virginia. She is also survived by three sisters JoAnn Francis Dobbins of Clarksburg, West Virginia; Carol Francis Bennington of Shinnston, West Virginia; and sister in law Judy Francis, of Morgantown, West Virginia. In addition she is survived by 6 grandchildren, Lori Stevens Stiffler (Michael) of Long Beach, CA; Shannon King Driver (Scott) of St. Albans, WV; Connor Boram (Kate) of Frederick,MD; Clark Boram (Mallory) of Walkersville, Md and Meredith Boram (Hannah) of Dundock, MD. In addition she was survived by 6 great grand children: Liam and Ella Boram, children of Conner and Kate Boram; Addison, Emerson, and Carrigan Boram, children of Clark and Mallory Boram; Thatcher Boram, son of Meredith and Hannah Boram.
She was proceeded in death by the love of her life, James Robert (Bob) Boram in 1996. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Lucille Francis Marks of Clarksburg, West Virginia; and her brother Warren Francis (Judy) of Fairmont, West Virginia; brother-in-law Kenny Bennington (Carol) of Bridgeport, West Virginia; and sister-in-law Norma Francis (Ralph) of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law Phoebe Francis (Charles), of Clarksburg, West Virginia; and sister-in-law Susanne Francis (Warren) of Fairmont, West Virginia.
Betty was a devoted wife and mother. Betty worked for 10 years at Hartley’s Department Store in the Fabric Department. She was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, a member of the West Virginia travel club, and member of the Baptist Temple WWTG Circle. She and Bob enjoyed being with family, traveling vacations, bowling and involvement with her children and grandchildren in all activities. She loved sports of all kind, even boxing and wrestling! Betty was an accomplished seamstress making many of her children’s clothing including her eldest daughter’s wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses. Betty had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing hymns with her children.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Holly Summers Wilson for her help and guidance relating to medical issues and hospice care and also to VITAS Healthcare (hospice) in Lakeland Florida.
Funeral services are being provided by the Ford Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 4 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, August 3rd beginning at 10 AM to 11 with the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, WV.
