Obituary of Elizabeth "Liz" Currie Rodd
Elizabeth “Liz” Currie Rodd passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her home in Fairmont, West Virginia, surrounded by family. Liz was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and devoted schoolteacher for over 20 years. Her compassionate and serene spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Liz was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 25, 1958 to Bill and Bets Rodd. She is survived by her husband, Mike Kimble, her daughter Fran Jones and son Adam Hofer, and her stepdaughters Nicole Wilson and Lauren Ruckle. Liz also leaves behind her twin sister, Jessie Blaney, her sisters Becky Rodd and Susan Case, and her brothers Tom Rodd and Bill Rodd III. Liz was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Furbee. Liz was a loving grandma to her five grandchildren, Gibson, Claire, and Molly Jones, Xavier Hofer, and Norah Wilson. Liz was blessed to be part of a large extended family with whom she was very close and connected to throughout her life.
Liz lived her life for others. She graduated with her master’s in education from West Virginia University and dedicated her professional life to educating children. She spent her summers in the sun at her home that she and her husband built and loved playing with her grandchildren.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 11am-1pm at the Dining Hall at Chestnut Ridge Park at 346 Chestnut Ridge Camp Road, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525.
