Obituary of John L. Michael

John L. Michael, 83, of Baxter passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his home. He was born in Rivesville on December 20, 1938, a son of the late Roy Jennings Michael and Ortolo Texie Tennant Michael. John is survived by a son, Mark Michael; four grandchildren, Chase Martin, Ashton Michael, Remington Michael, and Logan Michael; two brothers, Jack Michael of Ohio and Richard Michael of Rivesville; and two sisters, Sally Riley of Yuma, Arizona and Donna Morris of Fairmont. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Jr. John was a 1957 graduate of Rivesville High School and retired from Westinghouse and Phillips Lighting Co. He enjoyed golfing, reading, horses, taking care of the farm, and spending time with his family. He was a loyal friend, devoted father, and loving grandfather. The family requests memorial contributions be made in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd and Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26554, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
