Obituary of Irene Burnsworth

Irene McElfresh Burnsworth of Fairmont went home to be with the Lord at Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation on November 4, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend Enoch, sons Douglas and Ronald, sisters Viola Cain and Linda Reed, brother Carl (Junior) Murray, her mother Bessie Murray, and her grandson Michael. She is survived by three sons; Allen (Georgia) of Jane Lew, Larry (Tina) of Shelbyville, KY, and Joe (Bill Waters) who resides in Virginia Beach. In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 12 great, great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces that she held dear. Irene was employed by Jones Department Stores as a bookkeeper for many years and retired from Industrial Corporation in Fairmont. She was a member of Boothsville Baptist Church and had previously worshipped at First Baptist Church in Mannington, First Baptist Church and the Baptist Temple, both in Fairmont. She also attended Great Neck Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA. A private graveside service will be celebrated at a later date with her son Reverend Allen Burnsworth presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Soup Opera at 425 Quincy Street, Fairmont, WV 26554, where she volunteered for many years.
