Obituary of Vonda Elaine Tennant

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Vonda Elaine Tennant share the news of her passing on November 21, 2022 at her home in Rachel surrounded by family. She was born Vonda Elaine Pratt in Morgantown on October 18, 1934 to the late Jesse B. and Ruby O. Pratt. Most of her life was lived in Rivesville where she owned her own beauty shop for many years before retiring. Vonda was a member of the Highlawns United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed laughing, making others laugh, and was always up for a good prank. Vonda loved sitting in the sun, and watching her hummingbirds, but her greatest love was being surrounded by family, especially her three sons. Vonda is survived by her three sons, Danny Ray of Rachel, Douglas and his wife Sharon of Rivesville, and Dick and his wife Beckie of Winchester, VA. Eight grandchildren Jesse Tennant, Kristi Manley, Amber Abel, Ryan Tennant, Derek, Steven, and Laura Tennant, and Holly Thompson. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces. In addition to her parents, Vonda was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 61 years, Daniel T. Tennant, her brother Bernard Pratt and his wife Bonnie. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper & Second St., Rivesville. Friends will be received Friday, November 25th from 1:00pm-3:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday, November 26th from 10:00am to 1:00pm, when funeral services will be held with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating. A graveside service will follow at Arnettsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Highlawns United Methodist Church, PO Box 485 Rivesville, WV 26588.
