Obituary of James Howard Hupp
James Howard Hupp, 83, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at his home. He was born in Fairmont on September 2, 1939, son of the late Paul Lantz Hupp and Anna Virginia Barnes Hupp.
James is survived by three step-children, Roger Harris of Earth, England, Steven Harris of South Hampton, England, and Anthony Harris of Littleport, England; seven step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Parsons of Abingdon, VA and Sally Hyre of Raleigh, NC; as well as his good friends, Charles “Jack” Davis of Fairmont and Charles Morgan of Grafton. He was also survived by his beloved niece and her family Sharon & Chuck Smith, their children Trey and Travis Smith all of Barrackville, WV.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olive Brenda Cornwell Hupp; step-son, Richard Harris; brothers, Charles “Tim” Hupp, Michael Hupp, and Richard Hupp; and two sisters, Mary Talkington and Doris Hupp.
James was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his service. He served as a maintenance and packing supervisor for the 151st Division in the Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Israel in Shell City, MO and worked at the Clarksburg Walmart and volunteered at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in the craft department following his retirement from the Air Force. He was an avid reader, coin & stamp collector. He always enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. A graveside service will be held in the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veteran’s Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 1 p.m. with full military rites conducted by the Marion County Veterans Counsel.
