Kathy and my wife, Betty BOYERS, taught together for several years at Mannington High School. Betty, who passed away August 15, always took her teaching very seriously. She and Kathy were cut from the same cloth in that respect. Always proper. Always competent. Always caring. They're probably discussing how to diagram a sentence right now! Take comfort in knowing she was an amazing , well respected person.

So many memories to cherish. Kathy was a good friend especially when our children were little and we had an exchange day. Kathy would take one of mine for a play day and I would take one of hers. The girls loved it and so did us moms. Kathy was my matron of honor and Rich the best man at my wedding. I will really miss those beautiful, hand painted Christmas cards.
Old friends are truly golden!
May all the wonderful memories uplift you all during these difficult days.

I'm sorry to learn of her passing. She was my teacher many years ago at Fairmont Catholic. She really knew how to challenge us but we learned so much! I'll always be grateful for that education. Prayers for the family.

I was very saddened to hear the news this week when my mother called.
Mrs. Newcome was one of a kind. She took the time in all of my years (as well as my younger sister Caroline's years) to encourage students to be creative, not coast and to learn.
She is one of the best teachers and mentors I've ever had in my life. She was demanding, but caring. She also appreciated music, drama and theater and had a natural talent of getting children to step outside of their comfort zone and do more.
I'm so thankful for having Mrs. Newcome as a teacher. She was demanding ....but I know she really had a positive impact on my life.

Rich I was so sorry to hear from Mary Ann about Kathy. Seems like yesterday we were all at Fairmont State. I thought so much of her and her thoughtfulness of others was amazing. Her art work is beautiful. I'm so glad I was able to come to her 70th birthday party and see you all and your family. Hello to Alice too.

My condolences to the family and friends of Kathy Newcome. I'd like to share just a few memories of Mrs. Newcome.
*After being ill in eigth grade and missing many days of school, Mrs. Newcome was kind enough to meet with me multiple days before school to catch me up on the novel the class was reading.
*Upon entering high school English class, it was obvious that the Fairmont Catholic kids had been prepared by the best-Kathy Newcome! No one could diagram sentences and write papers like we could.
*Toothpick Art projects
*Mrs. Newcome let Missy and me dye eggs when it wasn't even Eastertime. I remember thinking that was so cool. :)
I am so thankful for the influence that Mrs. Newcome had on me.
Continued thoughts and prayers for all of you.
