Obituary of Charles Calvin Henderson

Charles Calvin Henderson, 83, of Greer, SC and formerly of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his home. He was born in Morgantown, WV on August 25, 1939, a son of the late Calvin Junior Henderson and Catherine Marie Bernarding Henderson. Charles is survived by his wife, Rita Faye Spivey Henderson; sons, Brian Dale Henderson (Tracey) and Michael Wayne Henderson (Amy); grandchildren, Lindsey Nicole Henderson, Cameron Michael Henderson, Madison Paige Henderson, and Elise Summer Henderson; brother, Donald William Henderson (Sue); and a sister, Dottie Marie Maust. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Ann Klingensmith Henderson and a sister, Janet Leigh Burke (Max Allen). Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV and attended Fairmont State College. He worked for General Delivery Incorporated in Fairmont and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2373 of Fairmont where he was a member since 1982 and served in all chairs and was WV State President and Mid-Atlantic Regional President. Charles was a charter member of the Marion County Rescue Squad and served as chairman of the WV Motor Truck Association. He was active in youth sports in Marion County, including coaching Little League. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. A committal service will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
