Obituary of Marguerite Corral Gearde

Marguerite Corral Gearde, 93, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Fitzwater’s Gracious Living Personal Care Home in Fairmont, WV. She was born August 2, 1929 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Nicolas and Raimunda Rodriquez Corral. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Gearde. Mrs Gearde was member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont and enjoyed singing with the choir. She also was a 1947 graduate of Rivesville High School. Marguerite retired with over 32 years of service from the Westinghouse Corporation in Fairmont where she worked in the seal beam division. She was an accomplished baker and enjoyed making treats for her family and friends. Mrs. Gearde is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Gearde of Tea, South Dakota, her sister, Juanita Pallitto of Toms River, NJ, her sister-in-law, Peggy Corral of Lakeland, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her good friend Don Fitzwater who lovingly cared for her over the past nine years. In addition to her husband, Marguerite was preceded in death by her son, James Franklin Gearde, her daughter Diana Gearde Kuk and her husband Larry, and her brothers: Edmundo, Edmund, Nick, and Manuel Corral. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends and family are welcome to visit the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM. Mrs. Gearde will lie in state at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the church at 11AM with Reverend Larry Barkley and Pastor Andrew Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
