Obituary of James Walter Fetty
James Walter Fetty, 88, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fairmont on April 8, 1935, a son of the late James L. Fetty and Juanita Gallihue Fetty.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Delores Henderson Fetty; three sons, James Fetty Jr. and his wife Rachelle, Greg Fetty, and Todd Fetty and his wife Joyce; four grandchildren, Sara Fetty, Garrett Fetty and his wife Hannah, Adrianne Antoshak and her husband Tedd, and Courtney Chaney and her husband Ben; 10 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Amelia, Jude, Silas, Cole, Milo, Greyson, Lydia, Luke, and Joshua; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Paul, and Richard Fetty; sister, Edith Closson; and friend, Charlie Fluharty.
Jim attended East Fairmont High School and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont. He was the owner of Jim’s Appliance Repair for over 40 years, enjoyed fishing, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, was a big sports fan who loved attending high school games, and going on rides and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert Shaw officiating. A committal service will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum in Fairmont where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Counsel.
