Obituary of Raymond J.E. St. Pierre
Raymond J.E. St. Pierre, 88, of Fairmont, WV passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on March 7, 1935, in Fall River, MA, to the late Albert and Anna St. Pierre. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Thomasena St. Pierre; son Gregory St. Pierre (Robin) of Fallston, MD; daughter Michele Keefover of Fairmont, WV; Mark Keefover of Fairmont, WV; grandchildren Kayla Keefover (Jason Liston), of Morgantown, WV; Stephen St. Pierre (Madi Gress) of Fallston, MD; Kari Keefover Haun (Jon) of Fairmont, WV; brother Richard St. Pierre (Joellyn) of Virginia Beach, VA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Dobbertin.
Raymond joined the U.S. Marine Corps in August 1953. He served his country for over 20 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. While in the Marines, Raymond served in Vietnam, and was stationed onboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Coral Sea, and at domestic and overseas locations including Camp LeJeune, NC, Sangley Point, Philippines, Camp Pendleton, CA, Hawthorne Ammunition Depot, NV, Rodman Naval Base, Panama Canal Zone, and Vieques Naval Base, Puerto Rico.
After retiring from the Marine Corps, Raymond and his family moved to Barrackville, WV, where he worked for Hartley’s Department Store for 10 years. In the late 80’s Raymond and his wife moved to Stafford, VA where he served the Marine Corps for another 19 years in a civilian capacity, as the manager of The Basic School (TBS) Uniform Shop on Quantico Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, overseeing uniform fittings for military officers, and the network television shows, “Major Dad” and “JAG”.
Raymond loved classical music and was an avid reader and talented artist drawing in pencil, ink and oils. Family and close friends were the lucky recipients of many of his drawings.
