Obituary of DeEtta V. Tennant

DeEtta V. Tennant, 81, of Monumental Community, Wilson Estates, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins, WV. She was born October 1, 1941 in Wadestown, WV a daughter of the late Clyde J. and Rose Marie Mayfield Batson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Blaine Tennant. Mrs. Tennant was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville, she was a 1959 graduate of Mannington High School. She worked for over 15 years with Westinghouse Corporation in Fairmont where she served in the seal beam division, she later worked several years with Thrift Drug Store in Fairmont as a clerk. DeEtta spent the majority of her time, outside of work, raising her children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother with her focus on her family’s needs. She had enjoyed crocheting in her quiet moments, when she was able and watching The Food Network with her daughter. Survivors include her son Jeffrey and his wife Tessie Tennant of Fairmont, her daughter, Kimberly and her husband Shane Rogers of Fairmont, her granddaughter, Hailey Rogers, of Morgantown, her sister, Karen Rose and her husband David Hunter of Barrackville, her sister-in-law, Carla Batson Pedigo of Ida May, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, DeEtta was preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold “Butch” and his wife Peg Batson, and Ronald “Ronnie” Batson. The family had entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Friends and family are welcome to visit on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 5PM until 8PM and on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11AM with Rev. Dr. David Cyphers officiating. Entombment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
