Obituary of Bernard D. Eddy

Bernard D. Eddy, 90, of Rivesville, WV passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Bridgeport Health Care Center. He was born May 22, 1933 in Fairview, West Virginia, a son of the late Ancil and Otella Eddy. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty (Hess) Eddy. Bernard is also survived by his son, Rodger Eddy and his wife Kathy of Rivesville, his daughter, Joyce Murphy and her husband Kenneth of Rivesville, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was a 1951 graduate of Fairview Highschool and was a Methodist by faith. Bernard served in the United States Army during the Korean War era and was employed by Owen’s Illinois glass factor for 28 years as a shipper. He loved camping and fishing with his family, along with gardening and squirl hunting in his free time. Bernard is preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Eddy along with four brothers and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to the High Lawns United Methodist Church located at 252 Paw Paw Rd. Rivesville, WV 26588. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends may be received on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverand Stanley Merrifield officiating.
