Obituary of Ruthanne Meadows Dean

Ruthanne Meadows Dean of Fairmont, WV, passed away on September 11, 2023 at the age of 82 after suffering a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Charleston, WV to the late Eddie Morgan Meadows, Sr. and Una Lillian Meadows. Although she was diagnosed at an early age with Alzheimer’s disease, she did not fully suffer as her husband, Kenny (Pap) Dean of 46 years took incredible care of her. Ruthanne was a long-time member of LIFE United Methodist Church of Fairmont, WV and enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from Monongah Middle School, Monongah, WV after 35 years in education. Her last 20 years she served as the school counselor. Ruthanne enjoyed traveling, summers in Cape Cod, MA, shopping (Gabe’s), playing cards, golfing, snow skiing, and music. Her greatest passion was taking care of her family, friends, and pets. She was a wonderful cook and hosted many gatherings. She especially loved hosting her Supper Club for many years. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grandy”. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Fay Dean of Fairmont, WV; her brother Eddie Morgan Meadows, Jr. (Ardis) of Oviedo, FL; her sons, Rick K. Dubois (Holly) of McDonough, GA, Ryan K. Dubois (Rebecca) of Pembroke Pines, FL; stepdaughters Meredith Dean Augustin of Brooklyn, NY and Kara Dean-Assael (Dylan) of Beacon, NY; and grandchildren Emma Dubois Porter (Christopher) of Pensacola, FL, Hannah Dubois Knittel (Rob) of McDonough, GA, Nico and Neena Augustin of Brooklyn, NY, and Wiles and Ashland Assael of Beacon, NY; and great-grandchildren Poppy and Bowen Porter of Pensacola, FL and Sarah Ann and Lucy Kate Knittel of McDonough, GA. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. A memorial service will be held at LIFE United Methodist Church, 3000 Technology Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 4pm with Pastor Mike Estep officiating.
