Obituary of Thomas Joseph Denniston
Thomas Joseph Denniston, 84, of White Hall, WV, went on to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the United Hospital Center surrounded by his family. He was born May 6, 1939 in Pittsburgh, P.A. a son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret M. Maurice Denniston. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marilyn L. Dean Denniston.
Tom attended the Swisher Hill Union Mission Church where he served as organist. He was a 1957 graduate of Carrick High School in Pittsburgh, P.A. He retired in 1994 from NCR with over 30 years of service as a Customer Engineer. Upon retirement, he created Spartan Production Video where his work helped to preserve cherished memories of families, friends, and communities.
Tom was a talented musician having learned to play the piano and organ as a young boy in a very musical family. He played for several bands throughout his life and was especially well-known as a founding member of the band "Chance' - entertaining countless members of our community for over 25 years. He belonged to the barbershop chorus ensemble "Mountainaires" for many years. He was a creative craftsman, carpenter, brick-mason, electrician, and sound-system genius. He brightened the day of many with his warm smile and brought laughter with his wit and candor.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children: Thomas (Diane) Denniston of Pompano Beach, FL, Linda Denniston of Pompano Beach, FL, Danny (Michelle) Denniston of Raleigh, NC, Rick (Filsane) Denniston of Alexandria, VA, Michelle (Mike) Dubois of Naples, FL, Scott (Vicki) Denniston of Livingston, MT, and step-daughter Sonja Raddish of Fairmont, his 14 grandchildren, his five great grandchildren, and an expectant great grandchild on-the-way. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Rick (Doris) Dean, sister-in-law, Minlee Dean, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as, many close friends, neighbors, and church family.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Colleen Denniston Rimmel and Lorraine Denniston Cartisser, his parents in-law, Reverend Virgil and Garnett Dean, and his brother-in-law, Terry Dean.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff, mid-levels and physicians of United Hospital Center ICU, Acute, and Transitional Care Units, WVU Medicine Home Health, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital and Select Speciality Hospital. And a heart felt thank you to Dr Brager and his staff.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 2PM until 8PM, and on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 11AM until 12 noon. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 12 noon with Reverend Chad Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont, WV.
