Obituary of Lucy Ellen Vandergrift

Lucy Ellen Vandergrift, 99, of Fairmont passed away on December 5, 2023 at the Bridgeport Healthcare Center in Bridgeport. She was born on April 15, 1924 in Hillsboro, WV, a daughter to the late Winters and Georgia Jordan. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, William Vandergrift, her brothers; James and Harry Jordan, and her sisters; Francis Trader, Mildred Walton, and Nancy Fowler. Lucy was a Christian by faith and was a member of the Gateway United Methodist Church in Fairmont, WV. She retired after 35 years if service as a, R.N. with the Fairmont Emergency Hospital. She was also a member of the Nurses Association, where she served as the Treasurer for many years. Lucy enjoyed fishing, bowling, and long walks at Pricketts Fort State Park. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. A service of committal will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV.
