Obituary of Irene Yelcich Bogdanich

Irene Yelcich Bogdanich, 89, of Rivesville, WV passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in the Fairmont Medical Center. She was born in Royal, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1934 a daughter to the late Thomas Yelcich and Mary Ribic Yelcich. Irene is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Bogdanich. She is survived by her children: George Bogdanich (Darleta) of Fairmont, and Denise Fluharty (Jim) of Concord, NC, her granddaughter: Holly Watson (Sean) of Morgantown, her sister: Deloris Moran, her brothers: Lou Yelcich, and Matthew Yelcich (Karen), along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: John and Thomas Yelcich, and her sisters: Ruth Shepherd, Josephine Kovack, and Stella Securo. Irene was a Christian by faith and was an active member at the Trinity Assembly of God where she served in the church choir, volunteered in Vacation Bible School, and provided baked goods including cookies and cakes for church events. She attended every Wednesday and Sunday services and previously taught Sunday School at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in her earlier years. Irene was a homemaker and dearly loved her family. She enjoyed baking cookies, especially chocolate-chip, decorating birthday cakes and always strived to help her family in any way she could. Memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends will be received on Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 10a.m. until 1p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 1p.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
