Obituary of Helen Doris Chuby

Helen Doris Chuby, 96, of Farmington, passed away on January 13, 2024 . She was born in Mather, Pa, a daughter of the late Mike and Catherine Maichok. Helen was a 1946 graduate of Farmington High School and a graduate of Morgantown Beauty College. She was a hairdresser for several years, but was known by many as a cashier at Garden Fresh Super Markets in Fairmont and Mannington, retiring in 1988 after twenty years of service. Helen was generous and kind, always putting others' needs before her own. She baked the most delicious pies, breads and cream puffs, quite often sharing them with her friends and neighbors. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Roman Chuby, Jr, on November 14, 2022. She is survived by her son, Roman Michael Chuby (Andrea) Morgantown, WV, daughter Ramona Ann Grow (Michael) Charleston, SC, grandchildren Monica Renee Howanyk, Hannah (Jason) Stalnaker, Roman Price Chuby, great-grandchildren Zane Roman, Jack Barrett and Hailey Grace, as well as several nieces and nephews and her godson, Donnie Aloi. One infant daughter, Helen Ramona, is deceased. Helen was preceded in death by four siblings: Charles (BooBoo) Maichok, Mary Drabicky, Anna Kolish and Verna Leek. The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Assisted Living on Country Club Road for the wonderful care they have given Helen over the last four years. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends and family may be received at the funeral home on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Mt.
