Obituary of John James Dublin Jr.

John James Dublin, Jr., 88, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at his son’s home on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born on March 31, 1935 in Rivesville, WV, a son of the late John J. and Maude E. Musgrave Dublin, Sr. In 2016, John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, June L. Dublin. John was a faithful member of Life United Methodist Church and a former member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He graduated from Rivesville High School Class of 1953 and proudly served in the United States Army. John was a Letter Carrier and retired as a Clerk with the United States Postal Service. He was also involved in a great deal of community work including Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. John is survived by his children, Michael Dublin and his wife Lisa of Fairmont, Monica Ferguson and her husband Mike of Sterling, VA and Matthew Dublin and his wife Kris of Fairmont, and ten grandchildren, Justin Dublin, Ryan Dublin, Corey Dublin, Jordan Dublin, Spencer Dublin, Molly Jo Dublin, Luke Dublin, Evan Ferguson, Emily Ferguson, and Ethan Ferguson. John will also be missed by four great grandchildren, Annie Hays, Abrielle Dublin, and their mother Charity Clelland, Carter Dublin, and Connor Dublin, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a sister, Hannah Rodetsky. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to Meals on Wheels, 1529 Mary Lou Retton Dr, Fairmont, WV 26554 or to Habitat for Humanity, 103 12th Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1pm until 8pm and again on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 9am until 11am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11am with Reverend Dr. Michael Richards. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, where full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Honor Guard Council.
