Obituary of Donald "Donnie" Dewey Wolfe, Sr.

Donald “Donnie” Dewey Wolfe, Sr., 81, of Fairmont, passed away on April 11, 2024. He was born May 12, 1942, a son of the late Kenneth Kelsie Wolfe and Mabel Ruby Opal Cale Wolfe. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Carol Hammack Wolfe; daughters Brenda Wolfe of Monongah, Annette Wolfe of Fairmont, Donna Wolfe Swiger of Fairmont and a son Donald (Bush) Wolfe Jr, (Ashley) of Shinnston; grandsons, Travis Wolfe (Tina) of Fairmont, Richard Spencer Ill of Fairmont, granddaughter Kinleigh Wolfe of Shinnston; great grandchildren, Greyson Wolfe and Kiley Maple of Fairmont; sister Barbara Mullenax (Raymond) of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Wolfe of Monumental, Beverly Wolfe of Idamay, Marth Jane Wolfe of Barrackville; as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnie served as a Private in the U.S. Army then as a National Guard from 1960 to 1967. He was a qualified Sharpshooter Riffle and received a Sharpshooter Badge from the U.S. Army. Donnie worked as a miner at Bethlehem Mines in Barrackville, until the mines closed in 1982. He worked with his brother Buzzy with W & W Construction and worked for the Town of Barrackville. He also worked on neighbors and friends' mowers, weed eaters, chain saws, he loved tinkering with machines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to his camp, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Louise Wolfe, four brothers, Kenneth (Sonny) Wolfe (Maggie), Jerry Wolfe, Edward Wolfe, and Charles (Buzzy) Wolfe, and his loyal companion Chopper. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 2 pm until 8 pm and again on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 10 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating. A service of committal will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens.
