Obituary of Robert Kuocheng Shan

Robert “Bob” Kuocheng Shan, 96, of Fairmont, passed away in his home on April 20, 2024. He was born in Gaoan JiangXi, China on November 9, 1927 (1926). He was one of three sons to the late Xiaoyi Shan and Shengying Lan. He was preceded in death by his brothers. A loving husband, father, and caring friend, he is survived by his wife, Lily Chen Shan of Fairmont, his son, Tony D. Shan, of Seattle WA, along with several nieces and nephews, including niece Xianghong Shan and her husband Guohua Zhang and their children Yuwei and Jennifer of Vancouver, British Columbia. Robert retired with 30 years of service as biology professor at Fairmont State College. He has received the Recognition of Faculty Achievement award from the College for his service. He was a graduate of Taiwan Normal University, the University of British Columbia, and attained his PhD from Indiana University. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. All services will be held for the family at a later date.
