Obituary of Joseph "Lynn" Barnes
Joseph “Lynn” Barnes, 71, of Colfax, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. He was born on August 12, 1952 in Fairmont, a son of the late George “Bud” and Analore Hugus Barnes. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen R. Boyd Barnes and his companion of 13 years, Vickie Lynn Humphrey.
Lynn was a proud 1970 graduate of East Fairmont High School and faithfully worked as a Lineman at Verizon Communications Inc. for over 40 years. He was also a member of the VFW Post #629. In his spare time, Lynn enjoyed playing softball, bowling, watching as well as attending NASCAR races, listening to live music, and camping in the great outdoors. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Lynn is survived by two sons, Derek Boyd and his companion Brittany Weatherholtz, and Dylyn Barnes, two daughters, Alison Yandle and her husband Jesse, and Siera Cooker. He will also be missed by 10 grandchildren, Adryan Stemple, Landyn Stemple, Nolyn Barnes, Raelyn Barnes, Justin Yandle, Megan Howard, Jordan Yandle, Neily Yandle, Ali Weatherholtz, and Emma Weatherholtz, 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Aubrey, and Carson Yandle, Hayden, Camryn, and Addilyn Howard. He is also survived by Trista Long and her husband James, Samuel Robinson, Nitehi Long, Ajila Long, Ahawi Long, Emma Robinson, and Baylian Robinson.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. In accordance with Lynn’s wishes, cremation services will occur. Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4pm until 8pm and again on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10am until 11am.
