Obituary of Joan Carol Fisher

Joan Carol Fisher, 78, of Fairmont, WV passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Genesis Sistersville Center, in Sistersville, WV. She was born in Farmington, WV on October 16, 1945, the daughter of the late Virgil Lloyd Menefee and Helen Grace Shillingburg Menefee. Joan is survived by her two sons, David S. Fisher and his wife Diahann of Greensboro, NC and Jeffrey T. Fisher and his wife Deanna of Fairmont, WV; four grandchildren, Tessa Blake, Tanner Woods, Andrew Fisher, and Caitlyn Fisher; two great-grandchildren, Waylon and Nova, and her brother, Dannie Menefee of Mannington, WV. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, David; her daughter, Kristina Woods; granddaughter Joanna Hope Fisher; and her sister Judy Gill. Joan was a faithful Christian, wife and mother. She was always helping whoever she could, with whatever she had. Always, putting others needs ahead of her own. She loved working on genealogy, watching birds, and reading books. She was a graduate of Farmington High School and worked for 25 years, up until her retirement, on the kitchen staff at Fairmont General Hospital. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Wednesday, July 10, from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Thursday, July 11, from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. John Wright of Wheeling, WV will be presiding over the service.
