Obituary of Joseph Forte
Joseph Forte, 74, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his home, which he built. He was born on March 1, 1950, to Dr. Honor Forte and Lauralee Musgrave Forte. He was a proud graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and Fairmont State University with a Business Administration and Accounting degree. He was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ellen “June” Metz Forte, a son, Matthew Forte (Tammy) of Hedgesville, two grandchildren, Isabella Forte of Hedgesville and Tanner Coombs (Maggie) of Morgantown, and two great grandchildren Cannon and Ronan Coombs.
He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Forte (Sharon) of South Carolina and Honor Forte Jr. (Debbie) of Grafton, a sister, Kathy Hall (Dave) of Fairmont, two sister-in-laws, Jeannette Hayes Knight of Mannington and Joyce Bostaph of Vienna, a brother-in-law, Robert Metz (Susan) of Mannington, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family too numerous to mention.
Joe was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus in Fairmont. He was also an avid bowler, having bowled a perfect 300 game, an avid golfer, a renown fisherman, and deer hunter. He was a great, loving father and husband.
Joe retired from R & B Medical in Morgantown, as the Chief Financial Officer. He loved his friends there.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Ave, Fairmont, or to the Marion County Human Society, 2731 Locust Ave, Fairmont.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 3 pm until 8 pm. The Ritual Service for the Knights of Columbus will be held on Thursday at 7 pm. The Vigil Service will follow at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until 11 am. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church on Friday at 11 am with Father Kishore Varaparla, HGN and Sister Stella Cronauer, CSJ officiating.
