Obituary of Martha Ann Finamore

Martha Ann (Throckmorton) Finamore passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2024 at home in the embrace of her family. She was a cherished mother, doting grandmother and great- grandmother, and a beloved member of her community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Pearl and Joseph Roy Throckmorton, her sisters; Rose Davis, Mary Jane Shane, and Mary Louise Bane; her brothers; Jack Forney, John Forney, and Joe Throckmorton, her ex-husband Willie Finamore, and by her eldest son, Chip (William) Finamore, among many other loved ones. Martha was born on December 16th, 1928 in Mannington, WV and raised in Statlers Run, where she loved playing with her brothers and sisters, caring for animals, and learning to make music. She could play several musical instruments. She and her 5 siblings liked to sing and play songs together, a talent that led them to performing at local gatherings and events. In 1946, Martha moved to Fairmont to work at Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing at age 18. Her next job was at Hills Department store, a place she really loved to work. Following that, she held positions for many years at the City of Fairmont, and later in life she enjoyed working part time at local businesses, including Washland, and The Sports Grill. She always managed independently this way, and at every workplace she made lifelong friends. She attended Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont. Martha is survived by her daughter Joni Chico, with whom she resided in Fairmont for the last 5 years, her son Joe Finamore and daughter-in-law, Connie Finamore of Morgantown, two grandchildren; Scott Finamore of Morgantown, and Jenny (Finamore) Bockoff and her husband Jared Bockoff, of Los Angeles, CA, and 4 great-grandchildren; Jackie Riemann of Fairmont, Ashley Messer of Columbus, OH, Nicolas Finamore of Columbus, Ohio, and Seneca Bockoff, of Los Angeles, CA. Martha's interests in life included reading, gardening, day trips, and vacations with her family. One of her favorite places was Wildwood, NJ. She had many friends and treasured neighbors throughout her life. Most of all, she loved her family. She counted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as her greatest blessings. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. In accordance with Martha’s wishes, cremation services will take place. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 2p.m. until 6p.m. for a celebration of her life.
