Obituary of Nancy K. Bennett Jones

Nancy K. Bennett Jones, 85, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, October 25, 2024, at her home with family by her side. Born January 14, 1939, in Fairmont WVa, Nancy was the daughter of the late Mack D. Bennett and Pearle C. Bennett. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward C. Jones III of Fairmont. Nancy was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Fairmont, where she served as an elder and dedicated herself to the Sunshine Committee. She was also a proud member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter R of Fairmont. She attended Fairmont Senior High School and went on to study at West Virginia University and Fairmont State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) and Gamma Chi Chi (GCC) sororities. Nancy was actively involved in campus life and played lead roles in several musicals at Fairmont State. Nancy dedicated much of her career to working at the Jones Department Store and later at the tax assessor’s office in Fairmont. She will be remembered as a loyal friend to all who knew her and as someone who made a lasting impact on those around her. She is survived by her brother, Mack Bennett, and his wife Michele of Fort Myers, FL; a nephew, Richard Jeffrey Bennett, and his wife Elizabeth of Washington, NC; and a niece, Catherine Bennett Redding of Richmond, VA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson St., Fairmont, WV 26554, or The Marion County Humane Society, Fairmont, WV 26554. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, cremation services will occur. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson Street, Fairmont.
