We are deeply saddened to hear of Mary Lou’s passing. We enjoyed her good humor and wit at family reunions and watched as she raised 4 fine children as a working mother. We also were witnesses of the extraordinary marriage she had with Egbert. Their love and friendship with one another was evident in all their interactions, as well as their love of adventure.
Mary Lou has such a can do spirit. One memory was of her at an earlier family reunion. She, Egbert, and 4 children were in a tent. She was carrying Jay, who was under a year old. She was energetic and having a grand time.
Another memory was of her thoughtfulness. When I was in elementary school, Mary Lou would collect Laura’s outgrown clothes, box them, and send them to me. Laura’s clothes were so beautiful and I always felt special wearing them. I was grateful for the time she took to do this.
I am thankful to have known her. Our prayers are with her family for comfort during this time.
