Obituary of Doris Elmira Martin
Doris Elmira Martin, 95, a resident of Fairmont Health Rehabilitation Center, Watson Hill, Fairmont, WV, passed away early Wednesday morning in the health facility. She was born October 29, 1920 in Preston County, WV, daughter of the late Clyde Bucklew and Gussie Weber Bucklew Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ward Martin, who died in 2002. Mrs. Martin was a member of Baptist Temple of Fairmont, WV, where she earlier was active with the Carl Cain Bible Class. She was a homemaker in the Marion County area and earlier active with the Cub Scouts and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed quilting and finished several hundred quilts. She very much enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include a son and his wife, Kenneth, Jr. and Marcella Martin of Philadelphia, PA, 2 daughters, Shirley Cole of Fairmont, WV and Betty and her husband Philip Herron of Fredericksburg, VA, 6 grandchildren; Lisa Cole of Fredericksburg, VA, Lori Cole of Fairmont, WV, Joseph Cole of Fairmont, WV, Kristina DelLabio of Philadelphia, PA, Sheri Jenkins of Fredericksburg, VA, and Sheli Schneider, a ½ brother, Robert Miller of Florida, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Clyde, Harter, James, Robert, and Buddy Bucklew, and 5 sisters, Bethasheba Bucklew, Lucille DeMoss, Betty Gull, Mabel Bates, and Ruby Bucklew. Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd., Fairmont, WV from 4pm until 7pm on Friday and 10am until 11am on Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday, 2-20-2016, at 11am, with Dr. Rev. Holly Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.
