Obituary of Janet Hope Newhouse

Janet Hope Newhouse, 70, of Chestnut St., Rivesville, WV, passed away early Friday morning in her residence. She was born October 18, 1946 in Beckley, WV, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Earl J. and Mabel Gamble Gilbert. Mrs. Newhouse attended Trinity Assembly of God in Fairmont, WV. She played the organ for various church services and was active with the church choir. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School in 1964. Mrs. Newhouse recently retired from the Marion County Board of Education with 25 years of service as a secretary in the accounting department. She very much enjoyed playing the piano and traveling with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, William Newhouse of Rivesville, WV (Married 53 years), 4 daughters and their husbands; Tammy Newhouse of Rivesville, WV, Angie and Tom Taralla of Rivesville, WV, Michelle Walters of Rivesville, WV, and Tiffany and Steve Carter of Chambersburg, PA, 5 grandchildren; Jessica Walters of Springfield, MO, Anthony Walters of Rivesville, WV, Roman Walters of Rivesville, WV, Grant and Bennett Carter of Chambersburg, PA, 2 sisters, Shelby and her husband Bill Fredenberger of Spotsylvania, VA and Diana Gilbert of Cleveland, TN, 1 nephew, 1 niece, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Alex Walters. Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper St., Rivesville, WV from 6pm until 9pm on Tuesday and 11am until 1pm on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday, 2-15-2017, at 1pm, with Pastor Skip Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown, WV.
