Obituary of Morgan "Bood" Lodge
Morgan “Bood” Lodge, 85, passed away February 19, 2017, at the VA Nursing Home, Clarksburg, WV. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on October 22, 1932, the son of the late George and Ruth “Hall” Lodge. He was married to the late Shirley Delores Lodge who preceded him on March 29, 2013.
Also surviving are three children, Deborah Ann Dunbar and her husband Charles of Cross Lanes, WV, John Ross Lodge and wife Kim of Hernando Beach, Florida, Ross (Rusty) Lodge and his fiancé Lorrie Douglas of Jane Lew, WV. “Bood” has eight beloved grandchildren: Eric Eberhart and wife Danielle, Erin Dunbar and fiancé Jeremy Cooper, Kristofer Lodge, Danielle Lodge, Colby Lodge, Levi Lodge, Montana Lodge and Jena Douglas; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Eberhart, Lyla Berkimer, Caraline Eberhart. “Bood” was preceded by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
“Bood” served in the United States Marie Corps from 1952-1954 where he received the Korean Service medal, UN Service Medal Korea and National Defense Service Medal.
Morgan “Bood” Lodge 1st Love was dirt track racing. He was a West Virginia “legend” entering and winning his 1st race in 1967. “Bood” was the only driver to ever win a 200 lap dirt car race and the only driver from West Virginia to win the pole position at Pennsboro Speedway. He won his last race in the year 2000 at the age of 62 at Interstate Speedway. “Bood” was inducted into the “The Elkins Speedway Hall of Fame in 2014.
“Bood” 2nd Love was farming and horses.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding.
The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
