Obituary of Loretta Joan Jackson Chase
Loretta Joan Jackson Chase, 83, of Rivesville, WV, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 in her home. Loretta was born in Rivesville, WV on August 10, 1933, a daughter of the late William P. and Thelma F. Furman Jackson. Loretta was deeply devoted to her husband of 53 years, Frank Francis Chase, who died February 16, 2005. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and “great grandmother-to-be”. Loretta was a woman of strong Christian faith and an active member of Rivesville United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and bake for her family, friends, and for events for church. She was an accomplished seamstress and created dozens of quilts which she lovingly gave to family and friends. In recent months she created many lap quilts for patients at the Clarksburg VA Hospital. She enjoyed swimming with friends regularly until last year. She was retired from the Marion County Board of Education. Loretta is survived by one son, Frank Edward Chase of Hagans Community and fiancée Debbie Chase of Morgantown, WV; 2 grandchildren, Audrey Hime and her husband Joseph of Chattanooga, TN and Matthew Chase of Pittsburgh, PA; a great grandchild, Stella Jo Hime, who was born February 14, 2017; one step-daughter, Patricia Taylor and one step-grandchild, Gregory Patterson, both of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Opal Chase of Morgantown, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Andrew Chase, one sister, Bonnie Fling, and one brother, William Jackson. The family wishes to thank West Virginia Caring Hospice; special friends Patty Valentine, Janice Hardesty, Tracie Butcher, and Sue Currey; and many other friends who provided assistance to Loretta. Loretta has chosen cremation services. Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second St., Rivesville, WV from 10am until 11am on Saturday, 2-25-2017. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home Saturday morning at 11am, with Rev. Amanda Gayle Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown, WV.
