Obituary of Donald Orville Heater

Donald Orville Heater, 86, of Fairmont, West Virginia died Friday, April 28, 2017 at his residence.  He was   born June 13, 1930 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Russell A. Heater & Audrey Marie Martin Heater.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Richards Heater.

He is survived by two brothers Franklin Clifford Heater of Monumental Community & Russell Lane Heater of South Carolina, several cousins including Edith McCartney & her husband William McCartney of DuBois, PA and several nieces & nephews.  Donald was preceded in death by two brothers Cecil Richard Heater & infant brother David Ray Heater and a sister Shirley Marie Harris.

Mr. Heater was a retired security guard for the Martinka Mines and formerly worked in the delivery department for the Hartley’s Department Store.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Donald was a member of the Gateway United Methodist Church and a graduate of Fairview High School.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, West Virginia 26554 on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 10-11 a.m.  The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Donald Thomas and Reverend Jim Zinn officiating.  The committal service will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont, WV.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.FORDFUNERALHOMES.com
