Obituary of Richard Louis Thompson
Richard Louis Thompson, 68, of Worthington, WV, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born March 10, 1949 in Marcellus, NY a son of the late Roy L. Thompson and Mary Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Marcellus High School in Marcellus, NY where he played on the all state football and all state baseball teams. Richard attended the City Church in Fairmont. He formerly worked in commercial construction as a craftsman. Richard made his life’s work in the home that he built for his family in Worthington. Richard home schooled his children and enjoyed farming his land where he raised livestock including sheep and cattle. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed both birdwatching and photography.
He is survived by his daughters; Megan and her husband Michael Duffelmeyer, of Morgantown, Gwendolyn A. Thompson of Worthington, and Randi D. Thompson and her fiancé Tyler Davis of Adah, PA. His grandchildren Alex, Jacqueline, Carly, Gregory, Lauren, Elijah, Evan, Aiden, and Levi. A son-in- law, Gregory Pyles. His brothers Roy Thompson of Roswell, GA, John Thompson of Marietta, NY, Bill Thompson of Baltimore, MD, and Alice Haight of St. Johns, Canada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin M. Pyles, and his first wife Jacqueline Case Thompson.
Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Saturday, November, 25, 2017 from 11AM until 1PM.
