Obituary of Glenna Mae Moon Offutt
Glenna Mae Moon Offutt, 79, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at her home. She was born in Cumberland, MD on February 18, 1938, the daughter of the late Thayer Moon and Mary Slusser Moon. Glenna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Dale Offutt, who passed away in 2008.
Mrs. Offutt is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Pedersen and her husband Jay of Richmond, VA and Darla Zini and her husband Primo of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Lauren Pedersen, Zachary Pedersen, Alexis Zini and Joseph Zini; and her sister-in-law, Reva Moon.
In addition to her husband and parents, Glenna was preceded in death by her brother, Elwood Moon.
Glenna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Fairmont where she served as the organist for 45 years.
Her genuine pride and love for her two daughters was gratefully and thoroughly expanded with the inclusion of her sons-in-law. She bragged about them often and stated her gratitude for them. The love and concern they displayed was evidence of their likewise shared love and respect for her.
Her God, family, and church, in that order, composed her guiding course for life fulfillment. She possessed a natural gift of music and served for decades as organist at her church. She sang in the choir and in many vocal groups, as well as accompanying singers on the piano. She taught Sunday School and contributed in a myriad of ways to her church.
But she would be the first to tell you that her family was her treasure. She has now triumphantly changed addresses and slipped away to rejoin her beloved Dale. She reached out to meet him from the loving arms of her daughters and sons-in-law.
The promise of reunion will lessen the tears and produce a healing anticipation. But in the years to come, Glenna Offutt’s devoted love of God and family will remain in the memories of all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Linda Woody and Jessica Sedera for the loving care and friendship they provided to fulfill her wish of remaining in her home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Glenna’s memory to First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.
“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you, and whispered “Come to Me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A Golden Heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The casket will lie in state at First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the church on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Scott King officiating.
