Obituary of Philip Charles Alfred, Jr.
Mr. Philip Charles Alfred, Jr, of Jane Lew, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 18 2017 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1947 the son of the late Philip C. and Lois Hinzman Alfred, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife Norma Schilling Alfred. They had celebrated forty-eight years of marriage. He is also survived by a son Casey Alfred and his wife Tracy of Jane Lew, WV and their children Kaylee Kirkpatrick and her husband Brandon, Victoria Vankirk and Joseph Alfred-Rubio; a daughter Heather Kelley and husband Luke of Wellsville, NY and their children Taylor and Emily Kelley; a brother Tim Alfred and his wife Barbara of Bridgeport, WV; a sister Nancy Cleghorn of Bridgeport, WV and several nephews and nieces. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law George Cleghorn.
Charlie was a 1965 graduate of Bridgeport High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. While in the military, he worked as a specialist on Air Force planes automatic flight control systems. In 1978, he earned a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Salem College. He retired from Dominion as a supervisor and provided technical support to electronics instrumentation and natural gas transmission and storage compressor stations.
Charlie and Norma traveled and enjoyed the outdoors. They shared this passion with their children and grandchildren. They belonged to the Central West Virginia Corvette Club, Summers Knight Car Club of Weston and enjoyed trips on their Honda Gold Wiing. They attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Weston.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Friday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday,
December 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tim Conrad presiding. The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV. The United States Air Force and the Harrison County Honor Guard will provide full military rites.
