We just read the papers. We are terribly sorry with the loss of Alan. Please know that you sharing your little family has meant a great deal to us. Christmas was always special to our children because of your kindness.

Sue and girls,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Alan’s passing. Although I left Loveridge in ‘99 I still have fond memories of times spent with Alan. Alan was a great storyteller, whether it was his uniquely Alan world view, his timely quote from the Missouri Breaks or his adventure to retrieve his climbing gear once he started a tale everyone around was mesmerized. I’m sure he had very few ,if any,regrets in this life and he was indeed one of the good guys. I am sorry that I didn’t keep in touch but to this day I still think of him often. Just know that he touched so many and your sorrow is shared by all those lucky enough to call him friend.

My Brother Alan:
Today I send My Heart out to the Family.
Sue: Tears in my eyes. Both of You always made me Welcome
Shared a life growing up with Alan in Pleasant Valley.
When You go to kinder garden thru grade school thru high school and work together at Consol Coal Loveridge Mines a BOND is developed.
Alan Led exercise in the 8th Grade.
High School Lockers with in a few feet. One day Sue and Alan where in a fight at the locker, Sue was throwing Alan books out of the locker in a hallway full of students. Sue won.
Worked TOGETHER at Loveridge.
Family - YES.
Would stop down at the house just to talk and visit. Always made welcome.
Had to win the dog over after the first visit. Do not remember the dog name. Alan made sure that the dog understood that I was welcome. Never had a issue with the dog afterward.
After the big layoff at Loveridge , Alan talked with ME about having to move for a better life. Gary lived in Asheville NC and told ME that it would be a good place to relocate My family.
I have always told MY children - if you can count your true friends on Your Fingers of one hand YOU are Blessed.
Alan will always remain one finger on my one hand.
A statement that I Believe: Go Reach the world - Touch ONE MORE SOUL.
Alan Lockwood touched many Soul's.
Inside the gate - no more suffering , no more pain.
Alan will sing and shout.
Alan:
God Promise a Better Life.
Please find Your Father and My Father in HEAVEN and tell them LOVE YOU.
