Obituary of Joyce A. Romino
Joyce A. Romino, 84, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born on March 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Fred Fortney and Helen Johnson Fortney. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband Michael Romino.
Joyce is survived by her son, Christopher Romino of Fairmont; two daughters, Jeanette Harper and her husband James of Fairmont and Jennifer and her husband Bill Knight of Fairlawn, OH; five grandchildren, James Harper, Emily Harper, Nathaniel Romino, Michael Knight and Lauren Knight; and four great grandchildren, Adalyn, Brennan, Kaden and Riley Harper.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Adam Harper and her sister, Beverly Jo Bennett.
Mrs. Romino was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and former employee at the C&P Telephone Company. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and she enjoyed spending time with her family. Joyce was also a member of the ladies auxillary of Fairmont B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #294.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Joyce’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215; Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105-9959.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, February 18, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. In accordance with Mrs. Romino’s wishes, her body will be cremated.
