Obituary of Emma Eleanor Belcastro
Emma Eleanor Portaro Belcastro of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Anmoore, WV the daughter of the late Pietro and Carmela Vallelonga Portaro. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Patsy John Belcastro on May, 25, 2011; a son Randall “Randy” Patrick Belcastro; a brother William W. Portaro; two sisters-in-law Clare Portaro and Teresa Ventura; one brother-in-law Joseph Belcastro and three special nephews Thomas Sears, Benjamin Portaro and Joseph Portaro.
Mrs. Belcastro is survived by two sons, John D. Belcastro and his wife Nancy of Bridgeport, WV and Dr. Richard Belcastro and his wife Dr. Elizabeth of Beaver Falls, PA; a daughter Patricia A. Ford of Lambertville, NJ; a brother Benjamin Portaro of Clarksburg, WV; two sisters Sylvia Basile of Clarksburg, WV and Helen Cutright of Bridgeport, WV; a brother-in-law Sam Belcastro of Bridgeport, WV and a daughter-in-law Candace Belcastro of Bridgeport, WV. In addition surviving are her grandchildren Lauren E. Belcastro and Andrew J. Belcastro of Bridgeport, WV, Jordan and Jacob Belcastro of Beaver Falls, PA, Chelsea L. Ford and Brittany Ford of Philadelphia, PA, Mackenzie Ford of Lambertville, NJ; Scott Hartzell and his wife Callie and their two children Jackson and Hannah of Summerfield, NC and many special nephews and nieces.
At a very young age, Emma’s brother taught her to read and she began school at the age of four. Her love for reading continued for her entire life. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and attended West Virginia Business College.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in their mother’s memory to All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV or to the Harrison Catholic Schools, 127 East Pike Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
In accordance with Emma’s wishes, there will not be a public visitation. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Father Benedict Kapa and Reverend Father Brian J. Crenwelge as celebrants. The entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg, WV.
