Obituary of John Lyle Preston

John Lyle Preston, 92, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at his residence. He was born on March 6, 1926, a son of the late Arthur Lyle Preston and Pearl Mae McCauley Preston Knight. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dora Isabell Preston.

John is survived by two sons, John Franklin Silliman of Texas and William David Silliman of Texas; a step-son, Steve Powell; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by four step-children, Patty Petterson, Rick Powell, Bill Powell and Bob Powell; two brothers, Richard Preston and Paul Preston and a sister, Ruth Reed and her husband Jerome Reed.

John had a very kind heart and loved to volunteer. He won many awards for his volunteering and he also loved entertaining. He had a passion for fishing and country music.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330, on Monday, April 30, 2018, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. as well as on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tom Horne officiating.
