I am so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. It was a pleasure knowing him and going through the O school together. Our paths crossed infrequently over the years, but our conversations were that of dear friends. He will be missed. My sincere condolences.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Steve at such an early age, He was a very memorable "southern boy" at WVSOM. We had many fun times together and ran into him at medical meetings and on the WVSOM campus. He was and excellent Emergency Medicine doctor and the epitome of the kind of graduate we want to continue to see coming out of Lewisburg. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by all. Dr. Steve Smith was a very caring & compassionate man who if you were ever in need of an ER doctor you would want him there by your side. After many trips to physicians from Clarksburg to Charleston, it was Steve that finally figured out what was wrong with me and literally saved my life as I was on the cusp of dying as my body was shutting down. Also, he checked on his patients when they were admitted. I worked in the lab for 19yrs and ANYTIME he called the lab, he would 1st ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything at all. When he left UHC I was DEVESTATED but when I needed medical advice I would still call him to get it. WV has lost a wonderful Dr that words cannot explain. My condolences to the family, please know how MUCH this man will b missed and how many lives he saved that are still here bc of him.

I am so sorry to hear this. Dr. Smith was a really great physician. He took care of my grandmother in the ER at UHC several years ago when she was quite ill. He was very kind and passionate. Prayers of comfort for his family.

I am terribly sorry to hear the news about Dr. Smith's passing. He was my husbands Dr. for almost 4 years. He was a wonderful Dr. with a wonderful bedside manner. I was sorry to see him leave GCH. My condolences to all of his family.

Enjoyed working with him. Steve was a great ER doctor. One thing I loved about him was, he had the best hand writing of any ER Doctor I've worked with.
